The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) Examination 2026. A total of 1,871 vacancies are available for Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police, BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB and CISF Fire. (Staff Selection Commission)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Candidates appearing in the Bachelor’s Degree examination can also apply, provided they acquire the required qualification by 30 September 2026.
  • For SI in Delhi Police (Male), a valid Driving Licence for LMV – Motorcycle and Car is required by the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test.
  • Male candidates without the required driving licence can still be eligible for SI posts in CAPFs. (Staff Selection Commission)

For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, OR
  • Matriculation/equivalent with a three-year Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering.
  • Relevant B.Tech/M.Tech qualification may be accepted subject to the prescribed basic qualification. (Staff Selection Commission)

Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 01 August 2026.

  • SI in Delhi Police and CAPFs: 20 to 25 years.
  • Candidate must have been born between 02 August 2001 and 01 August 2006.
  • SI Fire in CISF: 18 to 30 years.
  • Candidate must have been born between 02 August 1996 and 01 August 2008.
  • SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation.
  • OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation.
  • Ex-Servicemen receive age relaxation as per SSC rules. (Staff Selection Commission)

Selection Process

The SSC CPO SI Recruitment 2026 selection process consists of:

  1. Paper-I – Computer Based Examination
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST) / Physical Endurance Test (PET)
  3. Paper-II – Computer Based Examination
  4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
  5. Document Verification
  6. Final Selection and Force/Post Allocation

PST/PET and medical examination are qualifying stages. Final selection is based mainly on Paper-II performance along with the candidate’s post/force preferences. (Staff Selection Commission)

Physical Standard Test / Physical Endurance Test

Physical Endurance Test – Male

  • 100 metres race – 16 seconds
  • 1.6 km race – 6.5 minutes
  • Long Jump – 3.65 metres, 3 chances
  • High Jump – 1.2 metres, 3 chances
  • Shot Put (16 lbs) – 4.5 metres, 3 chances

Physical Endurance Test – Female

  • 100 metres race – 18 seconds
  • 800 metres race – 4 minutes
  • Long Jump – 2.7 metres, 3 chances
  • High Jump – 0.9 metres, 3 chances

PST/PET is qualifying in nature and does not carry marks. (Staff Selection Commission)
