About the Scholarship
The Directorate of Teacher Education and SCERT, Odisha, invites applications for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) 2025-2026. This scholarship aims to support financially disadvantaged but academically talented students studying in Class VIII in Government, Government Aided, or Local Body non-residential schools in Odisha.
Selected students will receive a scholarship of ₹1000 per month from Class IX to Class XII, subject to meeting the continuation criteria.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Requirement:
- General & SEBC candidates: Minimum 55% marks in Class VII.
- SC/ST candidates: Minimum 50% marks in Class VII.
- Income Limit: Parental annual income must not exceed ₹3.5 Lakh.
- School Type: Applicants must be studying in Class VIII in Government/Government Aided/Local Body schools.
- Exclusions: Students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sainik Schools, KGBV, or other fully funded residential schools are not eligible.
Exam Details
- Mode: One-stage examination.
- Papers:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT): 90 MCQs (90 minutes) on reasoning, analogy, and critical thinking.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): 90 MCQs (90 minutes) covering Science, Math, Social Studies (Class VII-VIII syllabus).
- Qualifying Marks:
- General/SEBC: 40% aggregate in both papers.
- SC/ST: 32% aggregate in both papers.
How to Apply
- Online Application: Fill the form at https://mmns.odisha.gov.in or www.scertodisha.nic.in.
- Submit Hard Copy: Print the form, attach required documents (Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, etc.), and submit to the school Headmaster/Headmistress by 16.09.2025.
- School Verification: The school will forward verified forms to the District Education Officer (DEO) by 25.09.2025.

Scholarship Continuation Rules
- Promotion to Class IX/X/XII in the first attempt.
- Minimum 60% marks in Class X (55% for SC/ST).
- Annual renewal via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
- Note: Scholarship will be canceled if the student shifts to a private school.
